Located near the step of Forca d'Acero natural border between Lazio and Abruzzo, the refuge "Duca d'Aosta" (1430 m) built in 1939, now fully restored houses a typical restaurant.
The area is equipped situated in a broad plateau surrounded by forests and beech secular.
The right position makes it is an interesting starting point for excursions in the area and is a place of relaxation away from the summer heat.
In winter, Forca d'Acero is a reference for excursions with cross-country skiing, among beech woods and plains protected: take these snowy slopes means "forward" in the footsteps of wolves, and bears, along unspoiled woods and attention . The frame is waiting to be discovered, because it is behind the most famous tracks international Macchiarvana.
For more experienced there is the possibility of exciting excursions-alpine skiing, as the path Forca d'Acero-Serra of Gravare, which in just over three hours, allows to overcome a height difference of about 700 metres through Monte Panìco ,
San Nicola and Inguagnera Valley.
Thanks to an ambitious project of the Provincial Administration of Frosinone and the Municipality of San Donato will be possible in practice, in addition to the winter skiing, also the summer on grass and orienteering competitions.
